My name is Marry J Correy & I am Living in San Francisco. we get to see (and hear) quite a few House Finches all year round. When a couple of them made their home in my backyard, I started to feed them and after a couple of times, I even got a little wooden birdhouse.
I remember one time, not long after I started feeding my new feathered friends, I was out in my backyard when I noticed a couple of House Finches hopping around in the bushes. I decided to go over and see if I could get a closer look. As I got closer, they started to fly away, but then something amazing happened. One of the birds landed on my finger and just stayed there! I was so excited to have made this special connection with a wild animal.
It was such a wonderful experience, and I’ll never forget it.
Since then, I have really enjoyed getting to know these lovely little creatures and am always excited to see them visiting my yard.
If you have never seen a House Finch, they are small songbirds with reddish brown feathers. The males have brighter plumage than the females, but both sexes are beautiful.
These birds are not shy and will often come quite close to people, which makes them fun to watch.
I came up with the idea to start this blog when I noticed that many people don’t know anything about these beautiful creatures, even though they are so common.
I thought it would be fun to share some facts and stories about House Finches in the hope of getting more people interested in them. I also hope to provide a resource for people who already love these birds and want to learn more about them.
So, whether you are a House Finch fan or are just curious about these little birds, I hope you enjoy my blog!
